Outbound SMS or MMS messages carry a status that describes the current state of the message, which is displayed in the Conversation Timeline.
The table below displays an outbound SMS or MMS’s transmission status.
Status | Description |
---|---|
Sending | Gladly is in the process of sending the message. This status is usually only present for a very short time and quickly change to sent. |
Sent | Gladly is in the process of sending the message. This status is usually only present for a very short time and quickly changes to sent. |
Delivered | Gladly has received confirmation of message delivery from the carrier. This means the message was successfully delivered. |
Failed | Gladly has not received updated delivery information for your message. Typically, a sent status will be replaced by a delivered or undelivered status within seconds or minutes. Please note that US/Canada long code MMS often remain in sent status due to a lack of final delivery status updates from carriers, but the message was successfully delivered. |
Undelivered | The message could not be sent. This can happen for various reasons, including queue overflows, account suspensions, and media errors (in the case of MMS). |
Unknown Error | This could be due to many errors, including carrier and ISP-related errors, but the most common reason is that the phone number being used has not completed A2P Registration. Carriers block messages from an unregistered number. |
